The HAVmeter®

YHC Safety Solutions has been working with S.S.D.C South Somerset District Council to trial a Personal "Hand Arm Vibration" Monitoring system.

HAVmeters make it easy to monitor and protect employees when using vibrating power tools, from the dangers of being over-exposed to Hand Arm Vibration.

The system is designed to personally monitor the operator and the amount of vibration they are being exposed to. Each person using this type of equipment will be issued with a monitor which records actual trigger time.

The HAVmeter®

Monitoring HAV exposure is currently being recorded in a paper based format by S.S.D.C which currently estimates time spent on vibrating tools. HAVmeters electronically records daily exposure levels giving the operators a safer and more accurate, PAPERLESS control. As a management tool this information is downloaded at the end of every working shift.

All plant is tagged and programmed with a Coloured Tool Tag containing tool vibration data. The data can be sourced from new equipment via the manufacturer's specification. The green, amber and red tool tags give a visual indication of the general vibration level of the tools.

The HAVmeter®

Operators are visually alerted by a flashing colour coded display on the meter, flashing Amber to indicate EAV (Exposure Action Value) or flashing Red at the ELV (Exposure limit Value).

The system replaces inaccurate and inefficient paper based systems with a fully auditable, tamper proof data. H&S Managers can compile a large variety of reports for individuals, departments and specific tool groups.
