IPAF Powered Access Platforms

IPAF - International Powered Access Federation.

YHC can offer this course in Yeovil or across the South West at your location*. The PUWER regulations require employers to provide adequate training on all plant and machinery so they may be operated in a safe manner and the working at height regulations also apply to these machines.

The general level of training is on 3a and 3b, mobile scissor and mobile boom and 1b static boom.

Who should attend

This course is aimed at anyone who is responsible for the use of or will be using a MEWP in the workplace. There are no prerequisites for this course although some experience of MEWPS would be an advantage if two categories of training are undertaken in one day. Each delegate will be required to comply with the IPAF health and fitness statement and not suffer from vertigo.

Course Aim:

To give attendees knowledge of relevant Regulations, Codes of Practice and good safe working practices along with hands-on practical skills to enable them to safely use mobile powered access equipment.

• Structural Parts
• Regulation & Guidance
• Pre-use Inspection / Handover
• Safe operating methods and hazards
• Theory Test (pass/fail)
• Practical Training
• Practical Assessment (pass/fail)
• License Renewal - Log Books
• Course review and evaluation

On successful completion of the course each delegate will receive an IPAF PAL photo ID card and certificate of training

Duration 1 day

Cost £195 per delegate per day plus VAT (normally two categories are possible in one day)

Other courses are available including IPAF harness, demonstrator PAV, 1a static scissor and MEWPS for managers

The course is subject to weather conditions and the trainer reserves the right to cancel the course on the day if it is deemed unsafe to operate.

*A suitable room with heat, light, power, table and chairs for the theory section is required together with a MEWP of the category you wish to be tested on, which must be LOLER in date examined and be complete with manual. An area cordoned off for the sole use of the trainer and delegates with an aim point at least 75% of the working height of the machine being used.
